Smoking: recognize the problem and re-educate yourself!

Smoking is one of the most harmful and damaging addictions and any goal of quitting it goes through two main concepts: recognizing the habit and re-educating yourself to start a new life. Smoking is one of the biggest threats to public health and it is estimated that more than 8 million people worldwide die every year from direct or indirect habit causes. It is not only our health, but also the health of others. Smoking cessation is one of the treatments that needs more patient engagement.
Smoking is an addiction because it has both a physical and a psychological component. Interestingly, smoking is associated with relaxation, when in fact smoking is a stimulant. But we have associated moments of relaxation with smoking. Tobacco addiction has three components: physical (nicotine and receptors in the brain), psychological (association of a cigarette with moments of rest or relaxation) and automatic (having something in your hand). Regarding anti-smoking therapy, the first thing to do is to study the smoker to assess how many cigarettes they consume per day, what their smoking habits are, when they smoke more, when they smoke less, what the cost of a cigarette will cost them the most to quit ...
The treatment is approached in a disciplinary way with different professionals: motivationally, the doctor, specialist or specialist sets the goals to be treated, and then the assessment of the addiction specialist and alternative therapies such as yoga or meditation must be taken into account. All this happens under constant supervision!

  • Against smoking in our health center:

The most important thing for quitting smoking is the strong will of the smoker. From this point on, putting yourself in the hands of experts will greatly help you quit smoking.
The question is not so much to reveal what smoking entails (cancer, heart, vascular and chronic lung diseases), but to realize the physical and psychological benefits of living without habits.
Getting smokers to give up this habit is a serious challenge. In our medical center, various treatments are combined to ensure not only that the patient quits smoking, but also that he or she can overcome situations in his or her daily life that can make them get back into the habit.
