Diabetes is a disease whose main symptom is a persistent increase in blood sugar levels. Therefore, to diagnose diabetes, the most informative method is to determine the level of glucose in capillary blood (taken from a finger) or venous blood (taken from a vein) during the day, or, more reliably, to determine the level of fasting glucose (do not eat for at least 10 hours before the test). Seventy percent of people who are predisposed to this disease may develop type 2 diabetes. However, by taking certain steps, this can be avoided. It will not be possible to influence age, genes, lifestyle, preceding the moment when a person decides to pay increased attention to his or her health, but everyone can eliminate certain bad habits and acquire useful ones that help minimize the risks of developing the disease.
